No Mexico Without Tacos

Mexico wouldn't be Mexico without tacos and tequila. Some of the best and most authentic are at Pepe's Tacos in Pueto Vallarta. It's authentic in every way. A hole in the wall with an incredibly friendly staff (which I find everywhere) and HUGE margaritas! I recommend the tacos al pastor. They are open from 1 pm to 6 am. It's a favorite stop for those up partying all night.  If you go once -- you will return!

Strolling the Malecon

If you're in Puerto Vallarta you are going to stroll the Malecon . Newly constructed, the waterfront promenade is filled with locals and tourists enjoying the city. You're likely to find musicians, dancers, clowns, mimes, sand sculptors, street vendors, artists, and an array of tasty treats. There are merchants wooing people into their bars, shops and restaurants. During the Easter season, sand artists bring amazing things to life along the beach. And most exquisite to behold perhaps is the array of art sculptures along the half mile stretch. Here are a few favs --

"One of the most popular sculptures in town, Ramiz Barquet’s “Nostalgia” is a tribute to his relationship with his wife, the painter Nelly Barquet. The two planned to marry when they were young, but they lost touch, married other people, and each had children. After twenty-seven years, Ramiz and Nelly finally met again in Mexico and married. The sculpture depicts the silhouettes of two people sitting side-by-side and looking in the same direction toward the city."

En Busca de la Razon - In Search of Reason by Sergio Bustamante. Says Bustamante, "it's about freedom."
